Title: | Main Title: CRC1211DB & TRR228DB: An RDM solution built to last |
Description: | Abstract: This poster was presented at the SFB-INF Workshop „Let‘s share! Gute Praktiken und Fallstricke im Datenmanagement in SFBs und Forschungsgruppen“. Effective research data management (RDM) in a controlled and structured manner is crucial for interdisciplinary and long-term research projects, requiring robust solutions for diverse datasets. This poster showcases an RDM infrastructure that is currently running successfully in two current DFG funded interdisciplinary research projects (CRC1211 and CRC/TRR228) and has been continuously developed for more than 17 years. Initially established in 2007 within the TR32 project, the RDM experiences gathered from this project have been adapted and further developed within the Z02-(INF) subprojects of the CRC1211 and CRC/TRR228. Our established database systems, the TRR228DB (https://www.trr228db.uni-koeln.de) and CRC1211DB (https://www.crc1211db.uni-koeln.de) serve as central data repository platforms in both projects. They operate independently on a mostly identical and in-house developed codebase, based on a backend PHP server and a MariaDB database. Our RDM infrastructure offers centralized data storage, backup, visualization, DOI application, and data search functionalities. All stored project data is linked with corresponding metadata compatible with common standards like DataCite. Despite core features being implemented 17 years ago, the development of the RDM system is still ongoing to add new functionalities and update outdated ones. This ensures that the RDM system remains effective and up-to-date, supporting the dynamic needs of the research projects. |
